Anatomy

Lavaling Anatomy

Lavalings are small, stubby creatures that resemble a mix between a deer and a cat!

Their face is sloped, leading to a more boxy shaped head. They have round eyebrows & large noses, as well as ears that are small and naturally perk upright, but can easily go down to show emotion and such. Their arms are relatively thick, as well as their hooves, and they have a small stub tail. Two small horns protrude from their head, which can either be sharp or rounded!

Lavalamp Placements

Lavalamps are a key part of Astrolyte anatomy! They function similarly to any other vital organ in terms of how necessary they are, and they are also the source of an Astrolyte's magic. They naturally give off a glow, but leave that off for their approval image so we can see their colors!

There are 12 total unique lavalamp placements, all of which are shown below!
Lavalings can have a max of 3 placements!
Some placements can be fused, but only if they’re very close / overlapping!

Examples include: Back + Tail, Neck + Chest, Ears + Cheeks + Neck, and more!

In order, the current placements available for MYO Lavalings are:
Cheeks, Ears, Neck, Chest
Back, Tail, Hooves, Forehead
Back Leg [left or right], Front Leg [left or right]

Calf [left or right], Forearm [left or right]

Base Color

There are no limits when it comes to base colors! We just ask that you try to steer away from pure neons and such, as it could be difficult to look at for other members.
This’ll be what most of your Lavaling’s colors will be based around, so be sure to pick a color you know you like!
It can always be changed later with color ferroii, but this is what they’ll look like as a kid and most likely a young adult!

Secondary Colors & Markings

We try not to be too strict on our color rules, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still limits!
Firstly, secondaries should be visibly very close to the base color’s hue — we’ll allow some breathing room, but please try to keep it to similar. If someone can look at it and tell they are different hues, the difference is probably too large!

Note: Hue refers to the spot the color is on the color wheel. Different saturations, tints, and shades are perfectly okay, as long as they are in the same hue! To the right is a a simply labeled color wheel to show what we mean:

Hue

White / grey / black bases can have color secondaries, but they must all match — ex. if they have a green secondary, then the rest of their secondaries must follow the hue rules normally applied to bases and stay in the same hue of green [or be a different white / grey / black].

You are allowed a maximum of 3 secondary colors!
These secondaries can cover about half of the body, but as long as there’s a clear base color, it should be okay!

White / grey / black secondaries are okay regardless of base color!

Markings are limited for MYOs as well — if you can find a marking ferrosome for it [located on Lavaling + Colors & Markings + Event pages], a MYO marking probably shouldn't resemble it too closely! Larger spots / stripes / bands / etc are acceptable, but very small spots / stripes / shapes will still be required to be made bigger or removed until the correct ferrosome is applied.

Lavalamp Colors

Lavalamp Colors

Both lava colors must be within / very close to the same hue!
Lavalamp colors do not have to be related to the base at all, but they must be related to each other.
This is probably implied, but please make sure theres only 2 colors inside the lavalamp — 1 for the glass and 1 for the lava "blobs"!

Anything Else

This area’s for any other little bits that haven’t been colored in yet!

Eyes: Eyes can be any color other than pure white or black! This is nearly a permanent decision, so make sure it’s the color you 100% know you want! Make sure there are no pupils & the sclera is colored pure white — these can be changed later with ferroii.

Mouth: Mouth colors must match with the faction attached to them! It can be any hue, tint, or shade, just as long as it fits their faction. This color will be their blood color as well.

Florya Faction: Greens
Aitsua Faction: Yellows
Unkiri Faction: Orangey-Reds
Zima Faction: Blues

Horns, Hooves, Nose, Inner Ears, & Eyebrows: These little bits can be colored in using any color already on your lyte or a new secondary color!

Here’s a good example of what a MYO Lavaling could look like!

Tracker

Your personal tracker is how you keep track of your progress in Astrolytes! Here, you can record your current lytes, items, currency, and more! This allows the systems within the group to run more smoothly, due to the fact that we do not have comprehensive masterlists for lytes or items.

Your lytes will need to be kept up with by you!

It will need to be submitted as a Toyhouse Literature attached to all of your lytes. If you're not sure how to do this, ask in our Discord Server and we'll walk you through it!

Be sure to turn off WYSIWYG when copy pasting the code!

Find the tracker code here!

- There are built-in instructions within the tracker code on how to edit the amount of lytes shown!

- The Astrolyte Approval / Magic link can be removed if your lyte is currently a Lavaling! It will have to be added back when/if they are grown up, though.

- It is not required to keep the Badges section, even if you have earned one.

Template & Description

Now that your lyte has been fully designed, just throw them onto a template with the proper description, and they’ll be almost to approval!
Click below to find a PSD of the template, or click here for a PNG version!

Here’s more information on the Factions before you make your decision!

Now all you have to do is fill out the description for your lyte!

Tracker / Profile:

Please link to the literature containing your tracker & the individual profile you created for your lyte!

Name:
Every lyte in the group has a name! It is able to be changed at any time — just remember to properly update your tracker!

Biological Sex / Gender / Pronouns: [optional]
It's recommended to have one of these listed so others know how to refer to your lyte, but it's not mandatory! You're free to put just one [ex. just Gender: info], or add multiple if you'd like to specify anything!

Species:
This only alters if your lyte is a subspecies! Most lytes will just need “Standard Lavaling” here!

Type:
There are 4 different Types of Lavalings!
If you created your Lavaling yourself, it would be a "MYO Lavaling" (Make Your Own)
If you bought Lavaling design as a DD, adoptable, or custom within the group, it would be a "Purchased Lavaling"
If you won your Lavaling design in an event of some kind, it would be a "Won Lavaling"
If your Lavaling was the result of breeding, it would be a "Bred Lavaling"

Hatch Location:
By default, all Lavalings are born at the Lampery, an orphanage / nursery-type place where the majority of orphaned Lavalings and eggs are brought to be taken care of! In this case, you can include your faction's specific Lampery; The Warren for Florya; The Hole for Aitsua; Hisato's Aerie for Unkiri; and Holly's Hideaway for Zima.

If you'd like your lyte to be born elsewhere, though, just specify with a short descriptor in this section instead [ex. "With Parents" / "Near [Landmark]" / "With [Wildlife]" / etc]!

Personality:
Tell us a little bit about your lyte! It doesn’t have to be an essay of all the details on your character, but let us get to know them a bit!

And don’t forget to count your Halogens!
Here’s what an application description should look like:

Approval

The final step is to get your Lavaling approved!
Upload them to Toyhou.se and create a forum post with the proper description filled in to give them an official date of creation! Once a forum post has been made, they can be submitted to the Astrolytes World and become an official lyte!

Since we are an open species, you do not need to wait for a mod to approve your lyte for them to be accepted into the world! Be sure to update your tracker with each new approval, as keeping track of your current lytes will rely on you!

If you need any additional help on the forums [how to code something in, image breaking, etc.], feel free to contact an admin or helper - we'll be happy to help!

Please read over our Toyhouse Tips page if you are having any trouble creating a tracker or thread!

Some basics are covered there to help you get started, but again, we are always happy to help if you are still confused on anything!

If you would like to check in anyway, feel free to jump into our Discord! We have a specific channel called The Bakery that’s designed to help out with approvals!
