Tips for Using

Toyhou.se

Here are a collection of general tips for navigating Toyhouse!

Although these aren't exactly Astrolyte-specific, many members have mentioned struggling with some aspects of the site, so we'd hopefully like to create a hub for some basic ways to make your experience easier!

This page is written on the assumption that WYSIWYG is turned off!

If you are trying to use WYSIWYG (have it toggled to on), these may not work.

What is Toyhouse?

Toyhouse primarily serves as a character storage site! Its most direct features are for uploading characters and storing all of their art alongside them, but there are a variety of others that allow us to run a more organized group on it!

Toyhouse worlds allow for multiple members to join, bulletins to be posted, different members' characters to be added, and self contained forums which Astrolytes uses to run!

How do I join the world?

Simply hit the Request Membership button on the sidebar underneath World Functions and send in a request! Toyhouse gives you the option to add a reason, but it isn't necessary to fill out!

How do I add my lyte to the world?

Once your lyte has been approved, just click the Submit Character button on the sidebar underneath World Functions! Click through My Characters > yours folders, if any > the lyte!

How do I use the forums?

Using the forums is our main way of officially posting artwork! Clicking the Forums tab on the left sidebar (or clicking the clipboard icon at the top of the main page) will take you to the forums page, from which you can choose which forum matches the art piece you would like to post!

Next, you just need to click the Create Thread button and type up your post! The art piece should be embedded at the top, and any description can be written below. You're free to format your posts any way you'd like, this is just the simplest example!

How do I format my posts or embed images?

Toyhouse uses HTML, so your text might appear completely unformatted even if you entered line breaks within the editor. Here are a few ways to fix it up!

Formatting Text

<p>Put your text here! This is a paragraph element. Your text will appear in one continuous paragraph. An extra space is added after the closing tag.</p>

<p>A second paragraph would appear one full space below the first!</p>

<p>Within a paragraph, you can also create just one line break rather than two!<br>

The text after the line break would appear just one line below the text before it!</p>

Added Details

<b>This tag bolds text!</b>

<strong>This tag also bolds text!</strong>

<i>This tag italicizes text!</i>

<u>This tag underlines text!</u>

This tag makes the text a subscript!

This tag makes the text a superscript!

<small>This tag makes the text smaller!</small>

<h#>This tag makes the text a header! Replace the # with any number from 1-6! 1 is the largest.</h#>

<a href="URL">This tag makes the text a link! This text would lead directly to the URL when clicked. Be sure to close it so nothing except the words you want are made into hyperlinks!</a>

<div align="center">This tag centers text! Alternatively, you could put "left" or "right" in place of "center" to have the text aligned to one side.</div>

Image Embeds

<img src="URL">

This is an image imbed! Inserting a direct URL to an image will cause the image to appear in your post at its original size. Image embeds do not have a closing tag.

<img src="URL" width="#px">

To shrink or increase the size of your image, you can also describe the width in pixels! Replace the # with the pixel width you would like the image to be, just make sure it's big enough to see on the forums!

Hide Text / Images in a Spoiler

Listed below is the basic spoiler code, but there are fancier options that coders on Toyhouse have put together such as this and this if you would like something a bit more refined!

<div class="fr-spoiler"><p>Put your text / images here! All previous formatting works inside a spoiler. This would be a good choice if you have an image with content that needs a censor (injury, sensitive content, etc.) or if you have a long list of requirements to link and don't want you forum post getting too long to scroll through! The spoiler is hidden by default & must be clicked on to reveal its content, so it would be a good idea to say what is inside it above the code!</p></div>

How do I use the Literature feature to upload my tracker?

The tracker template is linked on the Standard MYO Guide, so this will only focus on how to upload and edit a Literature!

Submission Dropdown

To first upload your tracker, you first need to hover over the submission dropdown, and click on the tab that says Literature!

The title can be anything that works for you, but the most common option is simply "Astrolytes Tracker." The thumbnail and blurb aren't required, but can be added in if you'd like!

The Type doesn't matter very much, but the most common setting for a one-page tracker would be One-Shot! Ensure that the Privacy is set to Public so that we can see it. The other default settings should work just fine!

For the Cast, add all of your current Astrolytes and Companions! Any new Astrolytes you make should be added later as well.

Paste the tracker template and fill it out to reflect your account, then hit Publish Literature!

To edit after publishing, just hit the Edit Literature button on the sidebar underneath Manage Literature and add / remove / change anything you need!

You may rearrange and decorate your tracker however you like as long as the basic info is kept intact and is easily accessible!
