Starfall Festival

The month of January marks the beginning of the Starfall Festival!

As a new year begins, the Grand Vitae reopens to reveal a new Lavalyte to stay on the islands! An older Lavalyte typically appears to oversee them for the month, and their presence causes a few temporary changes. Starrixe begin to bloom, elaborate patterns of magic spikes decorated the skies, and, most notably, Fallen Stars begin to land on Craven's surface rather than flying past it! A huge festival is held in celebration of the Lavalytes' arrivals, complete with games, activities and prizes!

Magic spikes are a phenomenon in which the planet's magic tilts to a certain type more heavily for a short or extended period of time! Most often, they are usually small, single streaks of color in the sky, but certain events may cause the balance to be offset more severely.

The presence of a Lavalyte visitor is one such event! Rather than causing one specific element to be focused on, every element can be seen together in the sky. It creates an alternating / wavy pattern of magic colors [appearing similar to an aurora borealis here on Earth]!

Astrolytes seem to be able to practice magic more easily when this occurs, and certain wildlife may become more active than usual.

Fallen Stars

Fallen Star

Fallen Stars are fairly true to their name — solidified chunks of energy that begin to fall across Craven during the time of the Starfall Festival! They often simply pass by the planet in brilliant shows of light, but if it is a year when a Lavalyte is present, they seem to land directly on the islands.
They don’t cause very much damage due to how they float right above whatever surface they’re resting on rather than touch it, but it can be a surprise to a lyte if one lands nearby. They are warm and numbing to the touch.
Festive ‘lytes enjoy collecting these Stars and putting them up as rewards for the minigames held during the event!
