Hollychimes

The month of December marks the celebration of Hollychimes across the islands!

An unmistakable shift in atmosphere arrives in the form of a dramatic spike in Flow and Freeze magic, causing ice and snow to decorate even the farthest reaches of Aitsua. Originally established as a way to prepare for the arrival of a Lavalyte at the end of the month, the event has since evolved into a widespread celebration of happiness and good will, complete with traditions of gift giving and decoration!

Holly has consistently been used as a main source of decor, initially as a sign of well wishes to leave around the Grand Vitae in anticipation of a new Lavalyte, and more recently just as a general bit of flair related to the holiday! Some lytes also take the holiday as a chance to leave gifts and such for their respective deity in hopes of good fortune for the next year.

The abundance of holly often draws Holifae out of hiding and out into the open on all islands! They are native to the cave systems of Zima, but it isn't uncommon to see bushels of them floating around decorations comprised of holly during December.

During Hollychimes, the Grand Vitae closes its petals until January, when it reopens to reveal a new Lavalyte to stay on the islands! Freeze magic spikes cover the sky, turning it majorly a light blue instead of the usual purplish hue.
